Jim Avignon zählt zu den ungewöhnlichsten Figuren in der aktuellen deutschen Kunstszene. Er ist zugleich Maler, Musiker, Performer, Veranstalter, Kurator und hat sich aus diesen Komponenten ein eigenes Berufsbild zusammengezimmert, das ihn jeden Tag aufs Neue auf Trab hält. Er malt viel, nennt sich selbst augenzwinkernd „den schnellsten Maler der Welt“ und stellt schon mal eine ganze Ausstellung in ein paar Tagen auf die Beine. Seine Bilder sind ein Mashup aus cartooniger Figuration, expressionistischem Bildaufbau, und dominant aufs Bild gemalten Titeln – immer getreu der Devise: ein Maximum an Ausdruck mit einem Minimum an Linien. Während einige seiner Arbeiten bereits in Sammlungen und Museen hängen, stellt Avignon weiterhin mit Vorliebe in Clubs, Ladenlokalen oder auf der Straße aus. Er thematisiert die Schnelllebigkeit dieser Gesellschaft und kritisiert mit oft schwarzem Humor Ungleichheit und soziale Ungerechtigkeit. Unter dem Titel „Neoangin“ ist er außerdem als Musiker unterwegs.
